I remember when I was younger, I couldn’t wait for school to start. The thought of being able to buy a new batch of school supplies, getting to meet new teachers and writing and rewriting my Spanish notes so that they looked perfect…man, those were the days!
Since Arcadia’s schools are preparing to open their doors, it’s only fair we give a shout out to the Teachers We Love and the football teams that will be gracing local stadiums soon (page 52). My mind floods with nostalgia as I picture my best friend and I heading to the football game on Friday night to watch our team and brag about how late our curfew was.
It was awesome to see our community rally around Coach Kerry Taylor so he and the football team can pursue another victorious season.
I recently spent some time with the fastest female motorcycle racer in the world, Valerie Thompson, before she heads up to the Bonneville Salt Flats for this year’s Speed Week. She broke the world record for female racers when she hit 328 mph. I don’t know about you, but I get nervous when my speedometer hits 80. One thing is for sure, Valerie only knows one speed, and that is FAST. Read about it on page 32.
This month kicks off our Teachers We Love campaign. If you have a teacher that deserves special recognition, recommend him or her by filling out a Teachers We Love form found on our website.
We are always looking for local story ideas, so email editor@arcadianews.com and keep us in the know.
Stay cool out there and thank you for reading Arcadia News!
