To our loyal readers,
It took me a long time to write this. Really, I stared at the computer screen for 20 minutes before even getting that first sentence down. Our world, our country and even our neighborhoods seem broken, confused and scared. 2020 has been a tough year, to say the least.
A basketball legend lost his life. The wildfires in California and Australia and now here in Arizona, “murder hornets,” mass shootings, the pandemic and then, the recent deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and many others brought on a flurry of protests and events fighting racism and police brutality.
I learned about the five core values of journalism while attending the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism. They are: truth and accuracy, independence, fairness and impartiality, humanity and accountability. While we are not a national publication, we hold these values to the highest standard and report things that are true and things that are happening in our community.
That’s where you come in. Our publication is all about you, Arcadia, and we strive to bring you the good news. We know that the world is heartbroken. Our goal is to give you a break from all of that. A moment to smile, to learn a little more about your neighbors and your neighborhood.
