Arcadia High made a few aesthetic changes around campus. One of the most extensive was a restructured field house near the football field’s end zone for student-athletes.
Completed this fall, the updated facility caters to all of the AHS sports teams, but the football and wrestling players will use it most of the time. It boasts new bathrooms, showers and a 70-seat film room. There will eventually be new lockers in the locker rooms with updated seating, flooring and plumbing. The goal is for the locker rooms to be completed by the end of this year.
The AHS Booster Club donated the film room’s seats and allowed teams to come in and view games or meet with each other to discuss upcoming plays. There are three screens, one of which is a 120-inch that allows coaches to connect to their laptops.
There will be an e-glass screen in the near future that will allow coaches to view players while also showing videos to ensure that athletes are engaged and following along.
“We hope that the field house will provide new opportunities for our students,” Principal Cain Jagodzinski said.
Dr. J added that the project was in planning phases when he became principal in 2020 and that it took around a year to be completed.
